We will all be communicators of culture at some point. A simple visit with family, friends, or even while traveling might ask us to consider the wide range of ways we define ourselves, how to weigh any conflicting evidence, or how to make decisions in the face of a temporary family or group uncertainty.
Those whose jobs require them to communicate, analyze, and teach complex information about ourselves and our culture are challenged daily to address multifaceted, complex problems that arise with communication. Balancing customs and local law information, and an array of literacy and expertise levels are just some ways in which communicating in this context can be a confounding and complicated task. The Development Establishment Maintenance and Refinement Institute (DEMRI) network is designed as just one place for facilitating connections and problem solving and critical thinking among communicators interested in this distinct set of concerns.
